I know that glasses just make me see better but how does my eyesight get better?

the answer to this question was this

Your eyesight probably won’t get better. Depending on your age, if you are short sighted it will probably get worse. We don’t yet have reliable technology to prevent eyesight from deteriorating. All we can do is correct the vision.

just want to reply back that at the age of 13, I used to wear glasses as well and they got better, why can’t they get better now, doesn’t the eye heal slowly over time, just like it did when I was 13 years old?
