Well, kittehz.
I built you a whole fancy iPhone self measuring myopia app, with measuring and logging and graphing progress, and all teh thingz, built right in.
But Apple said you can’t be trusted with that much power.
Let me just repost some of my comments in our forum thread:
They insist that self measuring a distance is a type of … “medical diagnostic”.
Which in itself is hilarious and rather quite telling of where we are at, society wise and babysitting law wise. No, you as your own grown-ass adult can not self measure a distance. Only a DOCTOR can do that. You, can’t be trusted with that sort of complexity.Which ironically is exactly what optometrists do, and ALL that optometrists do. So in a way, Apple is right. You can’t be trusted with a measuring tape, or digital equivalent.
All that ranted, how do we get into the app store? My thoughts:
A beard-measuring app. Wink, nudge. Dress it all up as a sarcastic beard measuring app. (then of course still get rejected because f*ck)
A face-distance measuring app. Way less fun or funny, but maybe a little obscure.
Who knows.
We have to get an app on there that allows you to measure a distance to your eyes. That’s the whole point.
And before anyone gets started with Android comments. Yes yes I know Android exists and we could just give up and make the thing for Android. Not the answer I’m looking for here.
Also, any artists that would be up for contributing any beard measuring visuals? Otherwise community contributions to make this thing get past the little half witted contractor censors employed by papa Apple?

It’s your lens use and habits that keep making your eyes worse. And the massive hundred billion dollar optics industry loves it. They keep you in ever increasing prescriptions, and tell you stories of some mysterious genetic “myopia illness”.
It’s nonsense. Your eyes are perfectly healthy.

We, darling fellow Endmyopian, now have a wiki.
You know, like Wikipedia. Only, cooler. And grand-er. And more filled with actionable ideas to actually open your eyes, and minds, and …. maybe just eyes. Or maybe just, you know, about how myopia isn’t a mysterious illness, and actually just a paid optional subscription to your own eyesight.

It’s absolutely worth reiterating that without the community (meaning, YOU) all Endmyopia is, is rants and obscure deadpan self-amusement humor, and digression, and things that are increasingly less compatible with an (Internet) world filled with cancel culture and outrage and corporate censorship and partisanship and general lowest common denominators.
In other words, Endmyopia needs YOU to be saved, and grow, and meaningfully connect people’s hearts and minds and brains, with their eyeballs.
That or do nothing and end up with just more gratuitous cocaine references. It’s up to you, really.
Go out there, and make some 20/20 gains. And be part of our wiki editor community. And share things that you think matter. Unless you like politicians trampling your rights, and Zuckerborg telling you what’s ok to read, and Google telling you what videos are ok to watch, and your optometrist telling you that your eyes are terrible and you’re a failure (genetically speaking) and that you need their $200-a-pair glasses subscription.
Be the change that you want to … , something-something.
